About
As the nature tech sector grows in complexity and urgency, there is a need for an ecosystem bridge builder, one that proactively connects innovation with implementation. The Nature Tech Collective strives to be that lynchpin.
We are a non-profit alliance of startups, investors, researchers, corporates, policymakers, and project developers working at the intersection of technology and nature.
Together, we:
Connect nature tech innovators with end users, funders, and decision-makers
Facilitate the translation of challenges into investable, scalable solutions
Catalyze cross-sector collaboration to mainstream nature-based technologies
By closing the nature-finance gap and supporting the widespread adoption of effective, equitable nature tech solutions, our goal is to accelerate progress toward a nature-positive global economy.

2020 – COVID & Regenerative Agriculture
In response to COVID-related food insecurity in Costa Rica, founder Giora “Gig” Kaplan began experimenting with regenerative agriculture and reforestation projects in Guanacaste.

2021 – Suelo Vivo & Systemic Barriers
The Suelo Vivo project combined regen cattle, reforestation, and toxin-free farming. Despite success on the ground, global funders couldn’t support it—impact couldn’t be proven with existing data systems.

2021 – The MRV Challenge
Efforts to build a local measurement lab revealed a bigger issue: MRV tools were too expensive, misaligned with tropical realities, and lacked scalability. This blocked climate finance from flowing to high-impact projects.

2022 – Launch of the MRV Collective
We formed the MRV Collective to bring together experts across science, tech, and conservation to address one core issue: how to build reliable, scalable systems for measuring nature-based impact.

2022–2023 – Community & Insight
The MRV Collective grew into a global network of 100+ members. Together, we identified deeper barriers: outdated data models, lack of local capacity, and a fragmented ecosystem slowing progress.
